The next generation micro architecture's performance and power management innovations include:
- Dynamically managed cores, threads, cache, interfaces and power
- Intel® Hyper-Threading technology for enabling a more energy efficient means of increasing performance for multi-threaded workloads. The next generation micro architecture's enables running two simultaneous threads per core - an amazing eight simultaneous threads on the Intel Core i7 quad-core platform

APCMag has tested Intel's latest Core i7 processor architecture that does away with the Front Side Bus and replaces it with the company's QuickPath Interconnect and has (back from the dead) hyperthreading. "This month, Intel moves on from the Core microarchitecture to the next generation of processors for mobile, desktop and servers, codenamed Nehalem and officially named the Core i7 family. We've spent a few weeks with Intel's test kit for the new desktop part, codenamed Bloomfield, as well as the new compatible motherboard chipset the X58 Express, codenamed Tylersburg."

The Intel IPP v6.0 supports the latest Intel® Core™ i7 process (codenamed "Nehalem"), several Intel IPP string processing functions like ippsFind*Any() functions are specially optimized for Intel Core i7 processors for additional performance benefits . All Intel IPP functions will continue to use “p8” optimized libraries for IA-32 and “y8” optimized libraries for Intel® 64 when you target Intel Core i7 processors.
